Helping children is about more than providing necessities. It is also about a happy childhood. Thanks to the support and kindness of our partners, children from the family home run by the NGO “My New Family” had the chance to take another special trip to sunny Greece.
The International Diplomatic Humanitarian Mission of the OSCE, led by Petro Shpuhanych, representatives of the Mission, and other partners and benefactors joined this good cause. For them, caring for children is a real commitment, not a formality. This trip was much more than a holiday. It gave the children new experiences, an introduction to another country, its culture and history, and, above all, a chance to encounter its rich spiritual and Christian heritage. During the trip, the children visited the island of Corfu (Kerkyra), Thessaloniki and Ouranoupoli. They travelled near Mount Athos, visited churches, monasteries and holy sites, and learned about shrines associated with Saints Spyridon of Trimythous, Paisios of Mount Athos, Arsenios of Cappadocia, Demetrius of Thessaloniki, Gregory Palamas, the martyr Theodora, Saint Anysia and Saint Anastasia the Deliverer from Potions.
Trips like this give children something that cannot be put in a box or handed over in a package: living emotions, knowledge, spiritual experience, a sense of being cared for, and memories that will last a lifetime.
